Mera Kya Hai from album "Dil Ki Baatein" - Music Review

Reviewing Dil Ki Baatein non-filmy music album. Not sure how many of us have heard Zubeen's album Zindagi (song Jiya Re Jiya Re, Lage Na Jiya Re ) but If you have heard chances are that you know who the composer was. His name is Dudul Saikia "Aalaap ". The Assamese guy was brilliant in Zindagi & now he has come back with another album titled " Dil Ki Baatein ". This time its an assorted album with various singers but the major attraction is the song Mera Kya Hai sung by soulful singer Javed Ali . I haven't got to hear all songs but did hear Mera Kya Hai & its just brilliant! Here's the review of the song. Listen to the song : - Mera Kya Hai   It starts off with singer crooning Kahin Kahin in background. And magic starts right from the first line. It is super melodious & tuneful. Arrangement specially percussion is outstanding. Its purely a Raaga based song & some superb Hindi lyrics support it very well. Needless to say, Javed h

Music Review of Lanka

Music : - Sharib - Toshi &  Gaurav Dagaonkar . This time again, I just heard 3 songs from this album & found both of them beautiful. Primary reason was KK as I am a die-hard fan of his songs. So downloaded that after seeing his name. And quite surprisingly downloaded the one sung by Sonu Nigam & Rishabh Srivastava as well. So here's the review of these 3 songs. Will review other tracks as well once I get to hear them. Click songs' names to play them. 1. Aap Ki Aahat : - Singer - Sonu Nigam. Music - Sharib - Toshi. Now this is magic! Wasn't expecting this from Sharib - Toshi at all. This one is a real outstanding track & will appeal to all those who are in love. Very beautiful composition & singing. A very romantic, rather passionate song sung in a typical Sonu Nigam style. Urdu lyrics accompany the melodious tunes well. Sabri brothers deserve a special mention for this super melodious piece of music. Orchestration is brill

A Few Unknown Gems Sung by KK - My Review!

My review on  few songs of KK that haven't been noticed by people. List is still incomplete. Will add once I hear more of his relatively unnoticed songs. Please click the song name to play. A few are available as video & not audio. 1. Barhaan Dil : - KK .  From the movie ' Mr. Singh & Mrs. Mehta '. This one is perhaps the first ever Ghazal sung by KK. Composed by Ustaad Shujaat Husain Khan & Shaarang Dev Pandit (Son of Pandit Jasraj) .  Has got a BLUES feeling associated with it. KK has sung this rather beautifully. A very melodious composition complete with super singing. Orchestration is not so heavy, not so light. I can say, its a kinda fusion of western instruments & Indian music style. Go for it. It will please you all the more.  2. Yeh Tanhaai :- KK .  From the movie ' Mukhbiir' ( originally taken from KK's debut album Pal ), this is one track that really feels smooth as silk. Very subtle and melodious. Has got a

Music Review of 'Jo Hum Chahein'

Music : - Sachin Gupta Lyrics : - Kumaar I haven't heard all the songs but got to listen to only 2 tracks, both sung by my favorite KK . So I won't be able to tell you about the album, but will review only these 2 songs. 1. Abhi Abhi :- Singer - KK & Sasha Tirupati. click song name on the right to play!  Abhi Abhi (KK & Sasha Tirupati) This one belongs to the genre Blues !! Kicks off with mellow voice of Sasha . The way she sings ' Ankh Piji Te Dil Roya ' makes you think it's Tujhe Bhula Diya - Part 2 . Not in terms of music, but in terms of style. After that there is strong electronic tune that actually intensifies the emotions of this melodious hummable song. KK has sung rest of this track and sounds crisp & fresh as always. Must say, Sachin Gupta has not disappointed with his work in this album. Instrumentals and vocals quite compliment each other. KK 's super singing accompanied by electronic tunes create magic. The

Music Review of Haunted!

I came to know about this album when one of my friends posted in KK's group on Facebook. And since I am a die-hard fan of KK, I decided to give it a try. So here comes the review of Haunted ..... Click songs' name to play. Composer - Chirantan Bhatt.  Lyricist -  J unaid Wasi 1. Tum Ho Mera Pyaar :- Singers - KK & Suzanne. Lyrics - Shakeel Aazmi. Honestly, I didn't like this in first hearing. Blame it to my poor quality headset that I had at that time. But since it was a KK song, I again heard it @ my home. And believe me, it blew my head off!!! I fell in love with the melody of this beautiful song. It starts off with electronic tune, and when KK sings the first line, magic begins. A progressive track that begins with slow tempo ( Jism Se Rooh Tak ) and ends with faster Tum Ho Mera Pyaar !!! Chirantan Bhatt did a wonderful job. Electric Guitar tunes accompany the vocals very well, so do those electronic tunes..This has become my love anthem!! Makes you fe

Review of "Maula Maula" from Singham

Starting off with Maula Maula from the Movie Singham . Sung by Kunal Ganjawala & Richa Sharma. Composer(s) :- Ajay-Atul. Lyricist :- Swanand Kirkire. Heard this yesterday & fell in love!! This sufi song alongwith its electronic tunes is really addictive. I fell in love with the opening of this melodious number. Its starting tune is similar to "Lamha Lamha" from Gangster (Pritam, Abhijeet duo!). But when vocals start, similarity disappears :) Softly sung by vocalists and the inclusion of Bass Guitar tunes makes it interesting. I will say, it deserves 4.5 out of 5.  Also, the remix version is quite listenable. Fantastic arrangements make it an interesting number as well. :)

Introduction!!

Hi Friends, being a hobbyist composer I have been all ears to music right from my childhood days. This blog is an attempt to kill my time and expressing my love for music. I will be doing review of a few songs that either I feel like or I dont feel like listening to....There wont be reviews of full albums as such, since not all the songs from an album are necessarily good. Barring a few albums, of-course!!!! And this is just my opinion. I don't want any controversy. I repeat, this is all what I think of a particular song or album.
