"Where I Belong" by Jonas Oakland

Jonas Oakland - A self made Swedish musician who focuses mostly on Electro/Dancepop. I have been following him for more that past 1 year, but never really could find time to post about him. Its been a lot of time since I last wrote something here. So, breaking this hiatus with a song by Jonas Oakland. "Where I belong" is my personal favorite of all the songs written by Jonas. Its melodious, catchy, upbeat, uptempo & full of emotions. This one gives me hopes to better myself. It sets my mood right, whenever I feel low. Verses build & build & then kicks in the best part, the CHORUS!! Its not massive but its really enjoyable & tuneful. I really love the lyrics & vocals of the song. Chorus goes like this. "Everything I have within my heart, gives me strength to carry on. Everywhere I have been from the start, takes me right where I belong" And the middle-eight is quite interesting. Jonas has a beautiful voice, amazing song-writing talent (h...

My Favorite Songs By Avicii

Being into Swedish music & not following Avicii is impossible. I always wonder how a self-made musician turned into World's #3 DJ. His transition from Sunshine to Wake Me Up is very impressive & I can't help but admire him more & more. This post includes his songs that I like the most. 1. Hey Brother - Song dedicated to US soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam war. Song dedicated to all the martyrs. Song dedicated to every soldier. A beautiful music video. That's Hey Brother. Chorus is addictive. Quite catchy.   2. Lay Me Down - Very very catchy chorus, great piece of melody & amazing beats. Inspiring lyrics as well. Imagine this kind of pulsating music, thousands of people dancing to it & Avicii performing the song live. That's what we have in the official video below.   3. Levels - Typical Avicii stuff. Outstanding arrangements & production.    4. Sunshine - Written & Produced along-with David Guetta, this ...

"Till The End" - Ola Svensson

Its been a rather long time since I last wrote something here. This one is the first post this year. This certainly doesn't mean I didn't find anything worth sharing this year. I found some amazing artists, songs & albums but didn't really find the motivation to share them. Anyways, today I am posting an old song called "Till The End" sung by Swedish singer Ola Svensson. Till The End is a song from Ola's debut album "Given To Fly" which was released in 2006 & went on to grab #1 spot in Swedish Album's Chart. Ola's is a no stranger here. I already wrote about his song Feelgood last year. Below is what "Till The End" is. As the name suggests, Till The End is about a boy who has been rejected by his girl but he won't let go of his feelings for her. He will change himself to be the one she wants & he will be with her forever. Sounds interesting, hmm!! Its beautiful piano intro itself describes what you can expect fro...

This week picks - Doin' Ok Doin' Alright & Take Me To Your Heart

Life is indeed a roller coaster ride. It has its ups & downs (in my case its more downs than ups). Anyways, 2 days back I chanced upon 2 songs from Magnus Carlsson's album Pop Galaxy. Both are written & produced by Pitchline ( Swedish duo of Matthias Kellenberger & Andreas Berlin ). Pitchline are known for their characteristic style of production. In one word, its 80's disco style. More on that later. Both the songs are opposite to each other in their sounds. Below is their brief description. 1. Doin' Ok Doin' Alright - (no youtube video available) Perfect remedy for your broken heart (yes, I deal a lot in such things). When you're down & want to bounce back strong, this song will help you to. Melody & production are not typical Pitchline. Beautiful ballad but a peppier one. Soothing, in one word. 2. Take Me To Your Heart - This one is typical Pitchline production song. Upbeat, slightly up-tempo &  perfect. You will love its verses ...

"Broken Parts" - Another beautiful piece of Balladry by Mans Zelmerlow

Is it me only or really Mans Zelmerlow sings ballads better than others? He is brilliant in his usual schlager-pop but is incomparable when it comes to ballads. Listen to his My Mistake or Stranger Saved My Life & you'll notice he sounds so good there. Today, I present another gem of a ballad, a single from his forth-coming album Barcelona Sessions, Broken Parts .  Broken Parts is pure bliss from its melodious intro till the end. Ballads hardly have much scope for production & this one is no exception. Almost entire song is carried out on vocals. Those subtle drum beats, bass & piano sounds create magic altogether. Broken Parts is for those who are broken-hearted (yeah, once again!) Its a kind of song that gives me courage to move on (yes, I wont be waiting for a certain thing now). So if you're looking for a song that is less on noise & more on melody, plus a song that lifts you up, go for Broken Part. It will make you feel better (once you get addicted to...

2 International sounding songs by Fredrik Kempe

Fredrik Kempe , as we all know is a renowned Swedish songwriter. And not just a songwriter, he is also a lyricist & a singer. While he has enjoyed great success in Sweden for more than a decade, he has had little recognition outside it. He still is a big name in European or should I say Scandinavian & neighboring countries. But he has not seen much success in US. I don't mean he is not known there but I guess US people don't really embrace Schlager or Schlager-pop. Today I present 2 songs of his that are entirely different from his usual work & have got an International touch. Read on. 1. Little Braveheart by Charlotte Perrelli & Kate Ryan. Massive chorus, even more massive production & high-octane singing define Little Braveheart. Its a song from Charlotte Perrelli's album The Girl & is truly an International dance-pop number with dubstep in the middle-eight! Believe me its chorus is so massive & instantly catchy tha...

Song of the Week - "My Mistake" by Mans Zelmerlow

Every move I made was just for me, Every song I sang was hollow, that was my mistake, I was a fool. Leaving our love behind, what we had I'll never find. I know I have made your heart break & I realize its my mistake. So you get the idea whats in for you in this post. There was no official video, so i assume this song is for a couple whose relationship has turned sour (my guess, married couple!). So if your partner is upset with you or is not talking to you, sing this to her/him & she/he will be yours again! My Mistake is a mid-tempo ballad from Mans Zelmerlow 's debut album Stand by For... (it was certified Platinum in Sweden & debuted & peaked at # 1) Written by Fredrik Kempe & Mans himself with lyrics by Fredrik Kempe, this one is one gem of a song. There cant be a better song to placate your partner. What i liked the most in this are those drums & cymbals. And that piano intro is too hard to resist. Since its a Fredrik Kempe's ballad...

Song of the Week - "Moving On" by Sarah Dawn Finer

Dreaming, hoping, for another try. I've been looking, searching, deeper down inside. And if I lose my way, I'll find another road. Cause I can make a change on my own. I'm moving on, And I'm gonna get stronger now, And nothing will break me down. I will not give in to doubt. Those days are gone, I can be who I wanna be. And start living my life for me, I believe it finally. I'm moving on. Fredrik Kempe writes his heart out whenever he is to write ballads (Break of Dawn, A Stranger Saved My Life , My Mistake to name a few). Moving On is no exception. We have numerous songs to describe pain of heart-break but this one is different. You can think of it as a song that will pull you up, motivate you, inspire you & help overcome the blues no matter what the situation is. Don't just look at it as another heart-break song. It evokes hope when you're down. Moving On is for all those who need a kick to get up & start running. Enough said. Mov...

Song of the Week - "Stupid With You" by Eric Saade

"I can't seem to walk right, I cant seem to talk right, I keep doing stupid little things. You cripple my brain babe, by being amazing, I keep doing stupid little things. Am stupid with you, you raise my heartbeat when you smile. Am stupid with you, you raise my heartbeat everytime. Am stupid with you, you, you. Am stupid with you, you, you." If the above lines didnt excite you, you never loved someone. Only a person who loves can feel the warmth of it. Today, I present a song that describes aptly the condition of a doting lover. Its one super sweet, super cute song that goes to warm your heart & make you love your lover's smile even more. Stupid With You is an upbeat bubblegum pop (not sure, though!) song from Eric Saade's 2nd Studio Album Saade Vol. 1 which debuted at # 1 on Swedish Albums Chart & continued to be for 5 weeks!. It remained on the chart for 44 weeks & was the fastest selling album for 2011. Its written by none oth...

Song of the Week - "A Stranger Saved My Life Tonight" by Mans Zelmerlow

"Then a wise man came up & he said, I see you're sad, go back & then beg for the love you had. Stranger saved my life tonight, I need my girl, I love her, yes I do. Stranger saved my soul tonight, turned my life around." Fed up of electropop or synthpop? Want to hear something different? How about a heart-melting soothing love ballad? Are you broken hearted? Want some relief from that heartache? Today I introduce a beautiful love ballad sung by Swedish singer Mans Zelmerlow . Its called A Stranger Saved My Life Tonight . This one is really a cure to your broken heart. Whenever I feel low, i listen to this. It instantly lifts up my mood & gives me a reason to smile. Pure bliss! So, lets discuss it in detail. A Stranger Saved My Life Tonight is a song from the album MZW sung by  Mans Zelmerlow. It is written by Fredrik Kempe & lyrics are by Fredrik himself along with Mans. MZW peaked to # 1 on Swedish Albums Chart. Since its melody is from a per...

Song of the Week - "Begging" by Anton Ewald

" Baby don't go, OOOOOO, you've got me begging begging, got me begging for more.  I wont let go, OOOOOO, you've got me begging begging, got me begging for more! " Guy requesting his girl not to go + pulsating electro sound + brilliant choreography = BEGGING !!! Debutant Anton Ewald couldn't have got a better start to his singing career. People always knew about his dancing skills & choreography but singing is something he took rather seriously. Begging is another very hot favorite song of mine. Its tune just refuses to leave my head. An up-tempo, electropop tune with a massive chorus. Those backing Synth sounds (hooks) are simply superb. Well, lets discuss Begging. Begging is an up-tempo, electropop song that first featured in Melodifestivalen 2013 . In prelimnary round, it came 3rd & thus advanced to Andra Chansen (Second Chance). There it won convincingly & stormed to Final where it stood 4th. More importantly it peaked to #1 on Swedis...

Song of the Week "Temple of Love" by BWO

Temple of Love is an amazingly peppy, high-octane, full of energy song that you wont be able to ignore. Definitely the best Synthpop song I have ever heard. This one really enthralls my broken heart. Been feeling quite sad of late & Temple of Love helps me get over those blues. Its brilliant. Pure bliss. One of my all-time favorites. Lets dive deep into the technicalities. Temple of Love is an uptempo, upbeat song written by Alexander Bard & Anders Hansson & sung by Martin Rolinski who are a part of Swedish Synthpop band BWO or Bodies Without Organs. It first featured in Melodifestivalen 2006 where it stood 2nd. Then it was released as a single from the studio album Halcyon Days & reached to # 1 on Swedish chart. Song kicks off with a long delicious intro. Doesnt follow the common verse-chorus-bridge-postchorus style. Chorus is just amazing that repeats many times. Since its a Synthpop number, you'll feel Synthesizer sounds all over. Martin puts all his e...

Popular - Eric Saade

If there is a tune that has been stuck in my head for more than a year, it has got to be Popular sung by Sweden's very own Eric Saade . The song is so addictive that I can listen to it any number of times & thats exactly I do. Popular is an uptempo, dance-pop number that will make you tap your feet anytime. Its written by Fredrik Kempe who needs no introduction. A veteran songwriter who has breathed life into this song that has slightly odd lyrics. Popular is one of his greatest hits of all-time & is unlikely to get off my head. The song first featured in Melodifestivalen 2011 & won it. Then it advanced to Eurovision Songs Contest 2011 & came 3rd. Intro starts off with whistles. Verses are good but CHORUS, ladies & gentlemen, is brilliant. You just cant get enough of this. Middle eight is amazing as Eric screams it loud. And then the best thing comes, the Post-chorus. That key-change & the vocal delivery just stand out. Bang ON! The way Eric finishes...

Vagar Du Vagar Jag - Sanna Nielsen

After a gap of around 5 months, am back to blogging. Been really busy with work & health also wasn't good. Got to hear some really amazing music in these 5 months. A few songs have become my daily routine as am finding it difficult to do without them. Today I bring to you an absolutely stunner, upbeat, uptempo Schlager song sung by Swedish singer Sanna Nielsen . Its called Vagar Du, Vagar Jag which means If you dare, I dare too. This Schlager gem has been composed by Schlager legend Fredrik Kempe alongwith 2 other greats Bobby Ljunggren & Henrik Wikstrom . Vagar Du, Vagar Jag first featured in Melodifestivalen 2007 where it reached to the final & stood 7th. Even though I dont understand Swedish a bit, i can clearly feel the energy in this song. It just sets the mood right! Intro is gorgeous thanks to beautiful Piano chords. The songs starts off as a slow ballad (intro only till first verse) but soon melts into an uptempo chorus. Percussion stands out. So do th...

Song of the Week - "Hero" by Charlotte Perrelli

Year is about to pass by & what a great year it has been for me as far as music is concerned. Got to listen to some of the most amazing artists. Found a great music genre Schlager that just blew my head off. Presenting you an absolute Schlager gem Hero performed by Swedish pop-singer Charlotte Perrelli & composed by great Swedish composer Fredrik Kempe . How do I describe this beauty? The song is pure bliss. With a hint of 80's pop sounds in the background, Hero is magical in leaving its impression on mind. Composition is brilliant, just brilliant. Arrangements are mind-blowing & singing is top notch. Been listening to it for past 6 months & haven't been able to get it off my head. Yes, its that addictive. You'll definitely appreciate Perrelli's high pitched singing. The key-change towards the end is awesome. Fredrik seems to have put all his efforts in the arrangement. Unforgettable. The bridge is perhaps the best part of this song. Such an upbea...
