Swedish duo Axwell Λ Ingrosso (who were 2/3rd of legendary Progressive House trio Swedish House Mafia) made their comeback in 2014 with a new single called Something New. I am not counting the debut EP X4 here. Something New quickly became my top favourite & I still consider it the best track they have ever produced. I can even say Something New is one of my all-time favourites across all the genres. But this post is not about Something New. It is about something new ;)
So, I am talking about their another single Dreamer from their debut album More Than You Know. I first heard the song when I was on my first Europe trip & it is one of the reasons why I love this song so much. It is hard for me not to associate music with time!
There is an interesting story about it. Axwell Λ Ingrosso released a teaser of Dreamer during Amsterdam Dance Event 2016 (ADE) at Heineken Music Hall. And since the song is dramatically catchy & it also reminded people of good, old Swedish House Mafia (for it bears the signature SHM drop), it instantly became the talk of the town. The crowd was loving it. SHM was probably back, at least for them. And then we all started waiting for the single to be released. Remember, it was only a teaser!
More Than You Know, the album was released in May 2017 but it didn't contain Dreamer. More than a year passed by & the wait became much more difficult. Suddenly, I saw in my Google Feed on the 30th of November, 2017 that Axwell Λ Ingrosso have declared the release date of Dreamer. It was set to be released on the 8th of December, 2017. Just a week? Yeah, that is do-able.
So, Dreamer was released on the 8th of December, 2017 & to all our surprise, it was a different version than the one they teased at ADE!! Why on earth would they NOT release the same Progressive House version? The version which made the fans reminisce about the golden days of Swedish House Mafia. The version which was being unofficially declared as Don't You Worry Child 2.0. Like everyone else I, too, was disappointed. I was impatiently waiting for the Progressive House version & it was nowhere close to that magic.
BUT, I still listened to it a few more times. And guess what happened? It grew on me. I felt connected. I became addicted. It is Axwell Λ Ingrosso, mind you. And they are one of the best in what they do.
Yes, I still want them to release the Progressive House Version as well. That version's drop is insanely, incredibly, infectiously beautiful!
Here are both the versions for you to decide. But one thing is for sure. This song deserves to be heard! GO FOR IT!!

When it all counts for something, And your pocket's full of nothing. Let's get high on believing, I can promise you, Yes, I am a dreamer too. We are dreamers together, Always and forever. Let's get high on believing. I can promise you, Yes, I am a dreamer tooDreamer is sung by Trevor Guthrie, a vocalist famous for an incredibly great song This is What it Feels Like by Dutch Trance pioneer Armin van Buuren. It has one of the best drops I have ever heard. It is melodic & euphoric at the same time. Vocals are soothing. The lyrics are beautiful. The production is impeccable, as always. And that drop is massive. The song has the same emotional vibes as Don't You Worry Child, but it definitely is in the same league. Combining both the versions, Dreamer is my 6th most played track since I started scrobbling in February. At least, as of writing this post.
