My review on few songs of KK that haven't been noticed by people. List is still incomplete. Will add once I hear more of his relatively unnoticed songs.
Please click the song name to play. A few are available as video & not audio.
1. Barhaan Dil : - KK.
From the movie 'Mr. Singh & Mrs. Mehta'.
This one is perhaps the first ever Ghazal sung by KK. Composed by Ustaad Shujaat Husain Khan & Shaarang Dev Pandit (Son of Pandit Jasraj). Has got a BLUES feeling associated with it. KK has sung this rather beautifully. A very melodious composition complete with super singing. Orchestration is not so heavy, not so light. I can say, its a kinda fusion of western instruments & Indian music style. Go for it. It will please you all the more.
2. Yeh Tanhaai :- KK.
From the movie 'Mukhbiir' (originally taken from KK's debut album Pal), this is one track that really feels smooth as silk. Very subtle and melodious. Has got a hint of soft-rock. Brilliant composition by Leslie Lewis.Very light orchestration & soulful singing. One can feel the soft sounds of Drums & Cymbals easily. Percussion is well placed and paced. Those who are in love will sure like this.
3. Tu Salaamat :- Again from the album Mukhbiir but music by Pritam. Again nice composition by Pritam. But unlike Ye Tanhaai, this one has harder rock touch. Strong beats & heavy percussion along-with Electric Guitars make it a bit heavy song that stays long in the head. Must say, this track makes good use of the instrumentals. Listen to it carefully and you'll feel the sounds of Cymbals every now and then. A typical Rock number. KK has sung this with a lot of passion. Quite energetic. Lyrics also sound very good.
4. Kanha Teri Bansuri : - Falguni Pathak, KK, Dev Choudhury & Karsan Sagathia.
From the movie 'Leela'. Music by Late Jagjit Singh.
Got to know about this today through KK's Fansite. So give credit to them for helping me discover this typical Gujarati Dandiya number. Since I am a die-hard fan of Gujarati culture (thanks to my favorite actress!) & KK, this one had to spellbind me. Most outstanding thing about this song is that it has been composed by legendary Ghazal Singer Late Jagjit Singh Ji. So this very number won't disappoint any one of you. Dandiya Queen Falguni Pathak sounds energetic as always. Coupled with KK's passionate singing, this one will make you tap your feet straightaway. High pitched croons by Karsan give it a distinct Gujju touch. So all the fans of Falguni, KK, Dandiya & Jagjit Singh Ji will enjoy this unusual KK number.
5. Tere Naam Se : - KK.
From the movie 'Ye Stupid Pyar'. Music by Vipin Patwa & Reeky.
Here comes the super melodious romantic number from an unknown movie. Kicks off with Tera Hone Laga Hoon styled croons by Neeraj Shridhar. Then starts KK's voice that lifts the song straightaway. Tune before 1st para is very much similar to O Soniyo (Raaz 2). Best part is the paras. Very soft, melodious, tuneful and romantic. Enthralling number. Always gives a pleasant feeling of being in love. Excellent music by debutant composers. Nice lyrics as well.
6. Chaand Taare :- KK & Chorus.
Movie - I Am Kalam. Music : - Abhishek Ray.
The movie won many awards. Music also won a lot of praise by critics. KK again stands tall and delivers another super song that has got all the elements of childhood. Chaand Taare is energetic, innocent, sweet & inspirational. Don't expect it to be an Oscar winning stuff. Just sit back and enjoy the music that revolves around the dreams of a poor, under-privileged kid. Kicks off with traditional Rajasthani instrument (don't know what's it called). Enjoyable song that keeps you engaged till the end.
7. Yaadon Ke Album : - KK.
Movie : - My Friend Pinto. Music : - Ajay - Atul.
This one has to be one of the best in-class songs of late. Rockish music, energetic singing & brilliant lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya make it a totally amazing song. KK again sang with a lot of feelings complementing the lyrics that revolve around our bachpan / childhood. Its a real fun number that pulls back memories of childhood. Nothing extraordinary, but really outstanding. Orchestration is well placed. Has its own pace. Another innocent & rocking stuff.
8. Chahoon Tujhe Main : - KK & Sunidhi Chauhan.
Movie : - Mallika, Music by Pritam.
Now its turn to go wild and intense with some Hard Rock stuff. This number is highly addictive and will keep you engaged till the last note. Very heavy orchestration with full use of Electric Guitars & percussion. Since it involves passion of love, KK has sung this with a lot of feel. Sunidhi does her job well. Entire credit to Pritam for instrumentals. Vocalists sound great as always.
