Teri Meri Kahaani - Music Review! |
Teri Meri Kahaani is an average (possibly below average) album. Only 2 songs are really very good & rest of them are mere gap-fillers. I might sound harsh but Sajid-Wajid are expected to deliver better music. Afterall their debut album Deewana (Sung by Sonu Nigam) was a runaway hit & was way too melodious. Teri Meri Kahaani is a typical contemporary bollywood album that is not very appealing in terms of melody. Below is the music review of Teri Meri Kahaani. Please don't mind if it contradicts your opinion.
1. Mukhtasar : - Singer - Wajid.
Electronic Piano tunes open the opening track of album. This one is catchy right from the beginning. Wajid sings in his usual way. Orchestration is heavy & compliments the song very well. Lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are good. Tune is really good. Based on typical club beats. Quite likeable piece of music. Wajid's voice sounds very fresh & provides some change as his vocal texture is different from contemporary singers. Best song of the album.

2. Allah Jaane : - Singer - Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
When Rahat Saahab sings something, its got to be good. Allah Jaane is no exception. A typical sufi song that describes love in simple words. Composition is good. Lyrics are simple & effective. Some pain is there in the tunes. A good song to listen to. Go for it.
3. Jabse Mere Dil Ko Uff : - Singers - Sonu Nigam & Sunidhi Chauhan.
Sonu & Sunidhi sing their heart out in this full-on energy, foot-tapping song. Might sound like Amit Trivedi's work if orchestration is considered. Very retro feel. Singers have done a good job to up the level of a mediocre composition. Not very impressive. Tune is interesting but still I didn't find it catchy enough. When we have tuneful Allah Jaane & Mukhatasar, we can expect better music in the album. Might grow on you if given repeated hearings.
4. Humse Pyaar Kar Le Tu : - Singers - Wajid, Mika Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Aftab Hashim Sabri & Shabab Sabri.
Not sure whether to like this or not, but it sure is interesting. I don't think I will have this song on my phone (that I use most of the time to listen to music & hence I keep only choicest of songs!). It's a typical kawwaali number that has nothing new to offer. It consists of "typed" Sajid-Wajid tunes. Again an average song.
5. That's All I Really Wanna Do : - Singers - Shaan & Shreya Ghoshal.
A typical Shaan number. Fun-filled, peppy & likeable. Though, its not quite melodious or artistic. Orchestration is interesting. Shreya sounds good, as usual, but doesn't have much to offer in this. Not an outstanding composition. Just an okay stuff. Not catchy enough. You'll start humming the lines That's All I Really Wanna Do in a few hearings, though!
6. Mukhtasar (Remix) : -
Music wise its just similar to the original. When we already had a beat-driven, foot-tapping version, I don't think a remix was needed. Original version is better, though is not very different.
7. Humse Pyaar Kar Le Tu (Remix): -
When original is no good, I don't expect remix to be good either. Same holds true here. Wasn't needed at all. Not good. Avoidable.
My pick(s) - Mukhtasar & Allah Jaane. That's All I Really Wanna Do & Jabse Mere Dil Ko Uff also sound good if not best!
