Music Review of 1920 - Evil Returns. |
1920 - Evil Returns. Music - Chirantan Bhatt, Lyrics - Shakeel Azmee, Junaid Wasi & Manoj Yadav.
Chirantan Bhatt is back! And I can say, he is back with a bang!! Been waiting for his work since long & the wait pays off. After super melodious Haunted, he comes back to create magic once again with 1920 - Evil Returns. Since its a Bhatt camp movie, expectations have to be quite high & Chirantan lives upto them. Below is the music review of 1920 - Evil Returns.
1. Apnaa Mujhe Tu Laga : - Singer - Sonu Nigam.
What an opening to the album!! Couldn't have asked for a better track to start with. Piano chords kick off & gel with Sonu's vocals instantly. Then there is amazing jugalbandi of vocals & instrumentals. Apnaa Mujhe Tu Laga is melodious to the core & bears that blue feel. Percussion part is brilliant. Sonu Nigam sings his heart out. Arrangements are mind-blowing. Highly engaging & addictive tunes. Lyrics too are quite good. A perfect song for a movie like this. My personal favorite & one of the best from this album.
2. Uska Hi Bana : - Singer - Arijit Singh.
Well, if Haunted had Siddharth Basrur for Mujhe De De Har Gham Tera, 1920 - Evil Returns has Arijit Singh for Uska Hi Bana. Another mind-blowing song that is based on typical Chirantan Bhatt template i.e. dark feel with hint of faint Tabla sounds. Again a melodious offering with full focus on percussion & husky vocals. Arijit sounds way too good & sings really well. Another addictive, soulful song. Brilliant composition, excellent lyrics & wonderful singing. Go for it.
3. Jaavedaan Hai : - Singer - KK & Suzanne D'mello.
Here comes master singer KK behind the mic accompanied by Suzanne D'mello. And since KK is there, we can expect another melodious, chartbuster song. So it is. Typical Bhatt camp music that will hold your breathe till the end. Yet another masterpiece delivered by Chirantan. Opening tune itself is addictive & when KK starts singing, the experience is divine. Brilliant composition, tuneful music, good lyrics & KK's serene voice. Magical. Go for it.
4. Khud Ko Tere : - Singer - Mahalaxmi Iyyer.
Mahalaxmi Iyyer is heard after a long time. This one has a nice melody to it. Arrangements are interesting & are based on classical Indian music. Lyrics stand out. Chirantan shows his varieties with this song. He deserves full credit for composing this. Mahalaxmi sounds sweet & orchestration is just wonderful. Another engaging stuff.
5. Majboor Tu Bhi Kahin : - Singer - Amit Mishra.
This one is a bit different from rest of the songs. Focus is mainly on vocals with very subtle arrangements, though as the track progresses, instrumentals take over. This one has a Rock feel to it, mainly because of the percussion. It will grow on you. Its a perfect end to the album. Amit Mishra has a bit coarse voice & it works perfectly well.
One thing that I have noticed about Chirantan Bhatt is that his music is engaging. I mean, he pays a lot off attention to the arrangements & orchestration. Haunted was a perfect example of it & so is 1920 - Evil Returns. The album is melodious, songs are catchy, lyrics are excellent & singers do their work really well. Been disliking bollywood music of late because of non-sense, zero value songs. But 1920 - Evil Returns pulls me back. All the 5 songs are treat to hear & you wont help praising the music. Chirantan delivers another class stuff. For me, its Album of the Year.
My pick(s) : - Apnaa Mujhe Tu Laga, Uska Hi Bana & Jaavedaan Hai.
Other 2 are equally good. Go for this Album. Its worth it.
My Rating : - 4.75 out of 5.
